Children are entitled to free transport if they live more than three miles from the school (all distances measured by the shortest route). The Education Authority pays Ulsterbus for each annual bus ticket and these are issued to those entitled to them, on the first day of the autumn term.
Children therefore may travel without a ticket on the first morning. When an annual bus ticket is lost the pupil is expected to pay £20.00 for a replacement. This charge is made by Ulsterbus and not the school.
